What is a Child Arrangements Order for contact?

If you are going through a separation or divorce then, at some point, you may need to seek a Child Arrangements Order for contact if you have children. At Saracens Solicitors, we can help you with this process when acting as your divorce solicitor in London.

A Child Arrangements Order for contact is a court directive that details the circumstances of interaction between a child and a parent, another family member or a special guardian.

As a divorce solicitor in London, Saracens Solicitors is a member of Resolution. This is a coalition of legal professionals who are committed to conflict-free separations. If possible, we will refer you to mediation before considering court proceedings. However, it is important to note that Child Arrangements Orders for contact do not necessarily always spring form conflict. Sometimes they are sought so that all parties have clarity regarding the terms of childcare.

Types of contact

Saracens Solicitors have experience negotiating various types of contact. If you have had an ongoing familial relationship with a child that has stopped for some reason, you may be entitled to apply for a Child Arrangements Order for contact especially if you have been living with the child for an extended period of time.

Types of contact, aside from the standard direct contact, include:

  • Indirect contact, this is where face-to-face contact is not deemed suitable or necessary at present but contact via letter, email, messaging or phone is ordered instead;
  • Supervised contact, this is where contact takes place in the company of someone else such as a social worker or relative. Sometimes supervised visits take place in contact centres. This can often mean that a parent is able to make arrangements for contact that do not include interaction with the other parent.

How we can help

Saracens Solicitors can help in all of these circumstances when acting as your divorce solicitor in London. Choose the best solicitor for your needs rather than be restricted by geographical location. We are happy to use whatever method of communication you find easiest to ensure that you can take advantage of our services, no matter where you live.
