Instruct us and your surveyor straight away
You need to engage us as your mortgage solicitor in London as soon as possible after your offer has been accepted. There are some steps that are involved in every house sale and these need to be started straight away.
You will also need a survey. There are different levels to choose from but your mortgage company will require a valuation at the very least. A more detailed survey is usually recommended to avoid costly revelations later in the process. Check with the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors if you do not have someone in mind or we can give you the details of surveyors that we regularly work with.
Check your paperwork
There is lots of paperwork involved in a house sale. Saracens Solicitors ask you for various details at different stages when we act as your mortgage solicitor in London. Ensure that everything is accurately and fully completed. If you are not sure, ask us about anything that you need clarification on. Do not leave anything blank unless you are sure we do not need the information.
Have your mortgage offer ready
You can get a provisional mortgage agreement before you make an offer on the house. This usually has an expiry date of around six months. It is worth having in place so that you do not start a sale process that the bank will not support with a home loan. This also means that you only need to finalise the details once you have made an offer.
