Why should you use a divorce solicitor in London?

In common with many professions, in the law, there are some unscrupulous people out there offering cut-price services. Some websites state that you don’t need to employ the services of a divorce solicitor in London, and that using their method can save thousands of pounds in fees.

However, there are many factors that such a service doesn’t take into account. First of all, the figure quoted (which can be as low as £35) doesn’t include the divorce application fee, which everyone needs to pay. This £550 is the cost for the court to process the divorce and there is no way to avoid paying it. The only exception to this is if you are on a low income. In that case, you can apply for a reduction.

If your divorce is amicable, you both agree to go ahead, and you have no children or shared assets, it can be a straightforward process. However, if this isn’t the case, there are many complex matters to work through, not just the divorce paperwork.

At Saracens Solicitors, as a divorce solicitor in London with 14 years’ experience, we don’t just complete the legal papers. We have a highly experienced Family Law team who can offer advice on all aspects of marriage dissolution. This includes:

  • drawing up childcare and financial agreements
  • including the right of grandparents if they have been involved in the children’s upbringing
  • mediation for the partners or the family as a whole to find the best way forward for everyone
  • experience in dealing with victims of domestic abuse. We can apply for injunctions to make sure you and your children are protected.

We can advise on whether an annulment, legal separation or divorce is the best option for you, and which reason to use when you apply to the court. We can also help if your spouse doesn’t want to sign the divorce paperwork, or you don’t have a current address for them.

With Saracens, you get a fully-rounded service, not just a tick in a box. Divorces that are dragged out, or even have to be applied for more than once, can be very costly in terms of time and money. Don’t take the risk; go straight to the professionals.
