Maja Kalanoska holds a double degree in Law and English Language and Literature. Maja has 18 years’ experience in immigration law and practice and has accumulated extensive knowledge and skills in immigration and nationality matters. Maja has accumulated over ten years of experience working at Barristers’ chambers, where she is entrusted to produce high quality complex legal documents challenging adverse decisions for individuals and businesses at the Upper Tribunal as well as the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Maja specialises in advising individuals ranging from high-net-worth clients, professional executives and businesses on all aspects of UK immigration law. She has achieved significant success in applications for Sponsor Licence, both under the General and Sportsperson categories. Her clients under this category include multinational companies with more than 4,000 employees, global presence in over 63 countries and a net worth estimated in excess of £1 Billion to Start Ups incorporated weeks before applying.
After the introduction of Start Up and Innovator routes to residence in the UK, Maja focused on expanding her knowledge and skills and established strong cooperation with endorsing bodies and their specific criteria for what makes a successful business idea as well as endorsement processes. As such, Maja identifies the most suitable endorsing body based on the client’s particular circumstances, such as the nature of the business, the stage of the business idea or concept and the funds available.
Maja takes particular pride in the success she has achieved in applications under the Global Talent/Promise route to residence and settlement in the UK (previously known as Tier 1 Exceptional Talent). Her approach towards the preparation of these complex applications is tailor-made, addressing and emphasising the applicant’s individual achievements and skills and is behind her over 95% success rate achieved in these applications.
Maja has vast international experience having worked in several different countries and jurisprudences, including Macedonia, Maldives and Sri Lanka, apart from the United Kingdom, where she is based.
As a former member of staff of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Maja is often instructed as an external expert by international and regional organisations such as the UN and the OSCE, as well as USAID.
She is the author of over ten publications, mostly focusing on immigration and nationality law.
Maja has a passion for travelling and discovering different cultures, cuisines and traditions. Her travels include Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central America and the Far East. Her second passion is fitness – when she’s not working on her clients’ cases, Maja enjoys her gym and swimming sessions.
