The lowdown on the investor visa

Immigration Solicitor in London

The UK government is always keen to attract overseas investment. And while it’s not clear how the economic landscape will be post-Brexit in March next year, it’s likely that the UK will be open to even more non-EU capital than before.

If you are a high-net worth individual from outside the UK with substantial capital to invest in a business here, an investor visa could be the one for you. As your immigration solicitor in London, Saracens Solicitors can advise as to whether this route will work for you.

Investor commitment

This visa requires serious money: £2 million or more. This can be invested in government bonds via banks that facilitate the bonds or UK registered companies in which you as an investor have no personal interest.

There are restrictions on how you can invest the money: you can’t invest it in offshore trusts, in property development, or leveraged investment funds.
